NSF COMPASS announces the selected students for the 2026 Undergraduate Summer Internship Program.

We received a fantastic response to the 2026 COMPASS Undergraduate Summer Program application. Thank you to all of the students who applied. We are glad to announce that the students selected for the 2026 Program are Bhuvishi Bansal (mentored by Naren Ramakrishnan at Virginia Tech), Lucas Eidson (Julie Gerdes at Virginia Tech), Nisha Khatri (Laura Goodman at Cornell University), Neel Narayan (T. M. Murali at Virginia Tech), Sara Patamawenu (Adam Lauring at the University of Michigan), and Jayden Ramnarace (Colin Bishop at Wake Forest University).

From May–July 2026, COMPASS interns will work alongside leading researchers on high‑impact pandemic research. Students will have the opportunity to conduct mentored research in cutting‑edge areas of pandemic science, join virtual lectures and skill-building workshops, collaborate with peers across multiple universities, and build a national network of mentors, collaborators, and fellow interns.

The COMPASS Center is proud to welcome these students and support their research experiences this summer. Congratulations to the 2026 cohort!
