Sarayu is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computational Modeling and Data Analytics with a concentration in Biological Sciences and an Honors Laureate Diploma.

During the NSF COMPASS Internship Program, she contributed to a broader organizational effort focused on advancing pandemic prediction and prevention through computational and biological research by performing zero-shot evaluation on HAVEN, a transformer-encoder model for predicting host organisms from viral protein sequence data. Through this experience, she strengthened her skills in deep learning, high-performance computing, Python programming, and scientific communication, including presenting her research at a poster conference. Ultimately, she hopes to pursue a career in data science, bioinformatics, or healthcare informatics.
