Blessy Antony

Postdoctoral Researcher

Computer Science, Virginia Tech

Blessy completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA. She is continuing as a post-doctoral researcher in the same research group and university. Dr. T. M. Murali and Dr. Anuj Karpatne have been co-advising her.

Her research interests include using computational methods such as natural language processing, graph machine learning, and generative modeling to solve impactful problems in Systems Biology and Bioinformatics. In her doctoral research, she worked on discovering viral hosts, mutations, and diseases using machine learning. Building on this line of research, she is now focused on developing foundation models and agentic frameworks to learn the evolution of zoonotic viruses using viral genomic data.
