I am a Professor of Regenerative medicine at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine (WFIRM) at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. The goal of my current and future research is to apply regenerative medicine and tissue engineering strategies to develop new clinical treatments for lung disease and injuries. These strategies include organ-on-a-chip technologies for drug, toxin and disease modeling, use of 3D bioprinting to fabricate new pulmonary tissues for in vivo testing and transplantation, and discovery of novel therapies to restore normal function to injured and diseases of the organs.
