The NSF COMPASS Center hosted its inaugural Ethics and Pandemic Science: A National Dialogue event on November 12–13, 2025, at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C., bringing together nearly 50 researchers, scholars, and community partners to discuss ethically driven approaches to pandemic science.
The discussion focused on advancing responsible, interdisciplinary strategies for predicting viral evolution, understanding virus–host–environment interactions, and supporting therapeutic development for emerging infectious diseases.
The event was co-sponsored by Virginia Tech’s Pandemic Prediction and Prevention Destination Area and brought together collaborators from across the COMPASS Center’s research network.
